Toles Election
Ron Toles After Wednesday's Civic Election
Swift Current's newly-elected City Council will be sworn in at a ceremony tonight at Council Chambers.

Last week's election saw Pat Friesen and Ron Toles elected to council for the first time along with four of the six incumbent members.

Swift Current Mayor Jerrod Schafer said they will try to get the new members acquainted to council quickly.

"I think a good practice that we have had the last few councils is bringing in an outside third party that is sort of an expert in municipal governments and we will bring them in to go through an orientation and go over roles and for somebody like me this is my fourth year I'm going to try and bring my experience."

Schafer added there's a lot of stuff to learn and a lot of past information to look at, but says the new members will have a lot of support around the table.

"It's a matter of rolling up your sleeves and getting to work really."

The ceremony is at 7:00pm and the public is invited to attend. The first regular meeting for the new council is on November 13th.
