The Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses will vote on new Regulatory Bylaws for Licensed Practical Nurses tomorrow.

With just 1 more day to go before the vote, Executive Director for the SALPN, Lynsay Nair, says she hopes the bylaws will be ratified.

"Although these practices have existed for some period of time, it solidifies the education that is required, and provides for consistent education throughout the province. So each specialized area has specific education that has been written in the bylaws that needs to be completed in order to participate and care in those areas".

Although, hopeful to see the bylaws ratified, Nair adds, it's hard to predict which way the vote will go.

"It's been a long process. We have worked with other regulators, we've worked with the ministry of health, as well as our members have had some opportunities to participate in the process, through focus groups and providing feedback. With the feedback we have received back so far, I think one could anticipate a ratification, but one never knows until all of the votes are tallied".

The Regulatory Bylaws would be for LPN's serving in specialized area's, such as Advanced Foot Care, Advanced Orthopedics, Hemodialysis Care, and Perioperative Care.
