Thienes Elected As President of Canadian Optometrists Association

Doctor Barry Thienes of Nova Optical in Shaunavon has been elected by acclamation as President of the Canadian Association of Optometrists.

He says, "Well, I’m certainly looking forward to it. Its challenging. There’s a lot of things going on. I feel its an exciting time for vision care and health care. I mean, there’s a lot of health care demands going on, but its just fun to be involved. Hopefully I can contribute in some small way to this profession and care for our patients across the nation."

Doctor Thienes also have a clinic in Maple Creek. He has been involved with the Provincial Association for 14 years, then was off council for awhile and in the Canadian one now for the past seven years.

Doctor Thienes adds that his new position as President shouldn’t disrupt his local practice at all. He says most trips are planned over the weekends and the odd time he will be away he will have another Doctor available to cover for him.
