The Town of Shaunavon has levied the taxes for 2016, and tax notices were mailed out on May 25th.

Tara Fritz, Shaunavon Town Administrator, says, “Town Council was very mindful of the economic climate when preparing the 2016 budget, which includes an increase of a half mill to the Real Property Taxes. This increase is to accommodate with off-setting the ever-growing challenges of increased costs and standards to provide essential services to the residents of the Town of Shaunavon.”

The paving budget is set at $160,000, which the Town will try to fully capitalize, by effectively managing conditions as set by a Federal Grant Program.

Council has also recognized the continuance of valued programs, such as the cost-sharing Sidewalk Program as well as trying to generate efficiencies in the capital budget by restricting expenditures. With this in mind, the decision was made for full utilization of the fleet of equipment, and replace with used equipment if warranted, or to extend the replacement into the future.

The Town of Shaunavon's Audited 2016 Financial Statements are now available at the Town Office, for those residents who would like a copy.
